Early Life

On November 20, 1983, Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, known as Future, was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned the nickname “The Future” after joining the music collective known as The Dungeon Family. Encouraged by his cousin, Rico Wade—a member of The Dungeon Family and a record producer—Future developed his rap and songwriting talents, aiming for a career in music. Wade provided Future with both guidance and an escape from the challenges of street life, and he has often credited his cousin as the visionary behind his one-of-a-kind sound.

Career

Beginning in 2010, Future began to share mixtapes including titles like “1000,” “Dirty Sprite,” and “True Story.” He collaborated with Gucci Mane on the project “Free Bricks.” Increased attention followed when DJ Esco played Future’s tracks at Magic City, a renowned strip club in Atlanta, helping boost Future’s popularity. This venue has famously kickstarted the careers of various rappers from the Atlanta area. In 2011, Epic Records reached out, leading to Future signing a record deal and swiftly releasing the mixtape “Streetz Calling,” which became his most commercially successful mixtape. His debut album, “Pluto,” launched in the spring of 2012, yielded four hit singles, including “Turn on the Lights,” which achieved a number two ranking on the U.S. hip-hop and R&B charts. Following this, he released “Honest” in 2014, “DS2” in 2015, and “Evol” in 2016. In February 2017, he unveiled the album “FUTURE,” followed just a week later by another release, “HNDRXX.”

In mid-October 2018, Future collaborated with the late rapper Juice Wrld on the mixtape “Wrld on Drugs,” which debuted at number two on the U.S. charts behind the soundtrack for “A Star Is Born,” featuring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. This marked Future’s 10th album to reach the top 10 in the U.S. In January 2019, he released “Future Hndrzz Presents: The Wizrd,” his seventh studio album, which also served as the soundtrack for the film “The Wizrd,” available on Apple Music starting January 11, 2019.

The album “High Off Life” followed in 2020, and in 2022, he released “I Never Liked You,” marking his ninth studio album.

Collaboration with Drake led to the release of two songs, “Life Is Good” and “Desires,” in January 2020. Subsequently, in 2023, Future appeared on Killer Mike’s new single “Scientists & Engineers” alongside Andre 3000.

In March 2024, Future, in collaboration with Metro Boomin, released the first album of two planned collaborations, titled “WE DON’T TRUST YOU.”

Future has faced lawsuits from both Jessica Smith and Ciara. Smith’s lawsuit concerns child support payments, alleging that Future has neglected his son. Initially, it is reported that Future refused to take a DNA test. Future responded by counter-suing Eliza Seraphin, accusing her of fraud and requesting a court-mandated gag order. In March 2024,

A DNA test that Eliza and Cindy shared on social media claimed a 99.9% probability of the children being half-siblings.
